BEAS RIVER, " An important river of Indus River System originates from "Beas Rishi & " Beas Kund " These two streams meet at Palachan near Manali Forms River Beas. "

The source of Beas river are Beas Rishi & Beas Kund  , the Beas Rishi which is the austerity Place of Maharshi Beas is on the right of Rohtang Pass and the Beas Kund is to the South of Beas Rishi flows as separate streams and meet together at village Plachan another 10 Km North of Manali and forms the river Beas.

The ancient name of river Beas was " Arjiki " . According to an ancient history it said that there was enmity between Maharshi Vashishtha and Maharshi Vishwamitra, at one time Maharshi vishwamitra killed hundred sons of Maharshi vashishtha  , so on this Maharshi vashishtha suffered a deep physical and mental pain and he tied himself with ropes and jumped into the river Arjiki. It is said that the river Arjiki got him out after removing the ropes, the place is known as village Vashisht. Since the river broken the ropes of Maharshi vashishtha and got him out of water it's named "Vipasha " means one who broken the ties (Bandhan)

So till Mahabharat -age the river was being called Vipasha. The Maharshi Ved Beas the great thinker and writer  had mediation at the holy place and later on the river was named after his name river "Beas " .

The river flows through the world famous tourist place Manali which is situated on the right bank of Beas traverses through beautiful evergreen forests reaches Kullu.

Then the river Beas traverses through Aut, Pandoh, Mandi, Sandhol, Kanda -Pattan  ,Sujanpur, Nadaun, Dehra  - Gopipur, in district Kangra, Pong dam and finally merges in river Satluj at Harike -Pattan in Ferozpur district of Punjab before entering in Pakistan.

After flowing through Pakistan it finally merges in Arabian Sea. 

The main tributaries of Beas in kullu district are the  Paarvati, the spin, the Mala nahi nalla, the Solang nalla, the Manalsu, the Sukoon, the Phojal and the Sarvari which drain their runoff to Beas.

In district Mandi the feeders are Hansa, Tirthan, Bakhli, Jiuni at Pandoh, Suketi, Panddi, Son and Bather. 

Further in district Kangra  the main tributaries are Binwa, Neogal, Gaj, Banganga, Dehr, Chakki, Ku nahi, Maseh, Khairan and Man .  The Beas enters Kangra at Sandhol and leaves near Mirthal.

The total length of this river is 470 km out of which about 270 km flows in Himachal Pradesh.There are hydro power projects at Pandoh, Pong dam and Harike on this river along with lakes. Some water has been diverted to Satluj river which falls into Satluj through  Dehar power plant. 

Harike is also developed as a tourism spot by Punjab Government through Asian Development Bank assistance.

The Seer -Khad, "An Important Tributary of Satluj river . "

 The Seer-Khad ia an important tributary of Satluj river originating from district Mandi through Bhadrog Sarkaghat, Chandruhi Bhambla -Jahu then flowing between the boundaries of district Mandi and Hamirpur it enters district Bilaspur near Jahu and Dehra.

Here Seer khad forms the boundaries of Hamirpur, Mandi and Bilaspur districts.

SANEHAL- KHAD :-

A tributary of Seer-Khad known as Sanehal khad rising from district Hamirpur confluence with Seer-Khad at Jahu and Dehra. Sanehal khad has its length about 8.7 Km up to confluence point.

CHAAV-KHAD :- Chaav -Khad is a tributary of Sanehal khad rising in district Hamirpur and merges with Sanehal khad at Jahu in district Hamirpur.

JABOTHI- KHAD :- A tributary of Seer-Khad rising from Bairagarh Govertta hills of district Mandi and joins Seer-Khad at Bhambla in district Mandi contribute much runoff during Monsoon season.

There are also small tributaries such as Kalthari Khad, Kauhni Khad, Nagroti, plashi Khads which  flow into Seer-Khad from district Mandi and join from left bank. 

Then the Seer-Khad traverses through Bamm, Talwara, Ghumarvin town Bard and reaches Sunahani where Sunahani Khad also joins Seer-Khad. 

SUKKAR -KHAD :- Sukkar Khad is another tributary of Seer-Khad rising from district Hamirpur and joins Seer-Khad at Ree-Radoh in district Bilaspur

Sukkar khad provides huge runoff to Seer-Khad which in turn flows into river Satluj. 


SARYALI -KHAD :- It is also a Tributary of Seer-Khad which rises from district Hamirpur and joins Seer-Khad after flowing about 15.5 Km in district Bilaspur. It enters Bilaspur district  in Naghiar Panchyat near Shah-Talai. The confluence with Seer-Khad takes place  downstream of Mandawa  bridge on Bhager -Vijaypur Chaunta road near Bharoli-Kalan and  Kallar  villages. 

The Seer-Khad also merges here in back water of Govind Sagar lake. The total length of Seer Khad is about 52 Km out which about 35 Km flows in district Bilaspur.

The Gambhar - Khad, " Tributary of Satluj river. "

 The Gambhar -Khad is also one of the tributaries of the river satluj which flows from district Solan and confluence with Satluj in district Bilaspur near Gambhar-Pul on Chandigarh Manali National Highway.

The Khad flows through Solan, Arki and Nalagarh sub divisions of district Solan then enters district Bilaspur  in Sawrghat sub division.

The mountains of Solan and Bilaspur districts contribute their runoff to Gambhar khad and huge quantity of minerals boulders, sand and bazari is deposited along the banks where velocity of water gets slow.

The Ghamrola - Khad, " The tributary of Satluj river."

 The Ghamrola -Khad is one of the important tributaries of river Satluj which rises from district Shimla and confluence in Satluj just 5Km downward of Bilaspur Town.

The Ratanpur Dhar  range drains water in the Ghamrola khad flows to Govind Sagar lake formed as a result of world's largest gravity dam Bakhara in Himachal Pradesh.

The unscientific construction in the catchment area, cattle grazing and other developmental activities are causing huge muck and silt in Govind Sagar thus have I'll effect on life of this important Dam. So there is necessity to carry out water shed treatment in catchment area.

The Ali -Khad, " The Tributary of Satluj river Originates from district Shimla and joins Satluj at Bilaspur in Govind Sagar."

 The river Satluj rises from Maansarovar  , in the southern slopes of Kailash mountain ,Rakastal and flows through districts Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Solan Mandi and enters Bilaspur near village Kasol in North-west direction. The Satluj flows through the middle of Bilaspur from East to West. The river enters Punjab near village Nehla after flowing about 90 kms in Bilaspur district.

The river satluj has many tributaries but major are Ali - Khad, Gambhar, Gamrohla and Seer . The Ali- Khad rises from district Shimla and after traversing through Bahadurpur Dhar Ali-Khad confluence in Satluj in Govind Sagar lake at Bilaspur near Luhnu. The Ali -Khad provide huge runoff to Satluj during Monsoon season.

The area of landscape shown in view is covered under back-to-back - water of Govind Sagar lake in monsoon when the level of water in the lake rises.

The total length of Ali - Khad is about 26 Km with a catchment area about 135 Square kilometre. The villages along the course of Ali -Khad in Bilaspur are  Jabbal, Bholi, Jukhala, Ashamanjari, Ghagus, Deoli, Kuddi and Chandpur. 


     
       The land which comes under water is cultivated by the farmers. The biggest fish breeding farm of Asia is set up on the bank of Ali- Khad at village Deoli near Ghagus in district Bilaspur.

Grow Oregano at home :- The Oregano is easy to grow. It can be grown both by sowing deeds or by cuttings. The cuttings from the mother plant is taken about 7.5 cm long and planted in garden soil, the moisture content is maintained . The root formation takes place in about fifteen days. It can be easily grown in pots also.

Uses :- The Oregon leaves can be used fresh as well as dried in powder form. We use Oregano in Pizza by sprinkling the chopped dried leaves over it. It is also used in pasta sauce, on frash Salad, bread rolls and chopped leaves on end of cooking for flavor.

Rosemary, "An aromatic evergreen perennial shrub ".

 Rosemary is an evergreen aromatic plant native to Mediterranean region. The Indian name of this plant is Gul-Menhdi . It has numerous medicinal properties. The Rosemary can be grown all over the world.

The Rosemary is mostly used in Ayurveda for various medicines, thus it's commercial use is increasing . It is a spice herb and can used in our kitchen to gain it's health benefits.

International women's day 8 th March

 The day dedicated to women all over the world is 8 th. March, The day is celebrated every year. It is the day as a special greet to all women all over the world. 

There is a great role of women in every sphere of life as well as society. It is a truth that without women this universe can't exist. Those societies where women are worshipped, protected and respected are always seen happy, growing. 


        8th. March International women's day

First time on February 28 th. 1909  the socialist Party of America celebrated women's day in New York. There after during 1910 German delegates and others proposed to organise  International women's day in an international Women's conference. After that the journey of this day remained continued. 


          Protect our rights, a civil awareness

On 8 th. March 1917 large numbers of women demonstrated for bread and peace in Petrograd in  Russia. The journey remained Continued. Thus this journey has completed years and reached the year 2021.


 Greetings to all women of World on this day. 

Women are our mothers, sisters, daughters and very important members of our family, we must care, protect and safeguard their rights and must take a pledge of to create a social environment where women are given respect and full security and feel homely in home and outside.
