Rangcha Pass Connecting Lahaul With Spiti in Himachal Pradesh

Rangcha Pass :- 

Rangcha Pass is a high mountain pass which 

connects Lahaul with Spiti in district Lahaul 

Spiti of Himachal Pradesh .


The Rangcha Pass is situated at an altitude

 of 4400 metres above mean sea level in       

Lahaul in Himachal Pradesh .

Access to Rangcha pass :- 


We can have access to Rangcha pass via 

Kardang village in Lahaul Valley in Himachal

Pradesh . The village Kardang is about 5 km

from Keylong  , ascending to the base of 

Rangcha pass .

While descending to Keylong we can visit 

historical Thakur's castle at Gondhla .





The biggest monastery Drukpa Kagyu 
 
Kardang  is situated on left bank of river 
 
Bhaga . This monastery was about 900 years 

old. Lama Norbu had  renovated it during  
 
1912 .

The monastery is an attraction to the

 visitors in Lahaul Valley . 





The historical Thakur's castle at Gondhla
 
is a seven stories castle constructed with 
 
timber and stones  in Kath - koni  

architecture . It is constructed during 1700 

AD. The structure is heavily earthquake 

resistant . It is constructed by Raja Man Singh 

of Kullu .

Rangcha Village :- 

Rangcha is a village in tehsil Lahaul and 

 Lahaul Spiti district about 21 km towards south 

of Keylong and it is about  9 Km from Lahaul .

The landscapes of Lahaul Spiti are beauty 

wonders , there are several beautiful places of 

tourist importance .

The Himri Pass , " A mountain pass connecting one side of Kullu Valley with Lug Valley in district Kullu Himachal Pradesh ."

 
 The Himri Pass :- 

The Himri Pass is a mountain pass which exists in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh India  at an altitude of 3200 metres above mean sea level .


The Himri Pass connects one side of Kullu Valley from Raison side  with beautiful Lug Valley in district Kullu Himachal Pradesh .

The Himachal Pradesh is a wonderland where God has given the blessings of nature like panoramic landscapes , beautiful  lush green forests and meadows , sky touching mountain peaks covering with snow ,   beautiful rivers flowing with neat and clean water , beautiful singing words and beautiful people .


The nature's immense beauty gives pleasure to all who visits Himachal Pradesh .

The district Kullu is heavily blessed with immense beauty of nature and itis on the world's tourist map . Lacs of tourists used to visit Kullu Manali every year  and enjoy the beauty of nature here .

On the other side in Tehsil Nagar of district Kullu there is an another beautiful Valley known as Lug Valley .It is unexplored from tourism point of view . This valley is famous for forest contractors for past so many years .


The Pajaund Galu in district Mandi  connects this Lug Valley with one another  beautiful Valley known as Barot valley in district Mandi .

The Lug Valley is connected with Kullu Valley through Himri Pass situated near village Himri in tehsil Nagar .

The Raison side of the Kullu Valley is connected through Himri Pass with Gramamg village in Lug Valley .

The natural beauty of Lug Valley has lot of potential to attract tourists but is un explored , Government of Himachal Pradesh has now included  the Lug Valley in its program ," Nai Rahein -Nai Manzilein " to develop the valley with tourist Infrastructure .





There are many beautiful spots of tourist importance  Mathaseur is very Full of nature of Tourism importance .

The streams and springs in the valley is famous for Brown trout fishing . 

How to reach Himri Pass :- 

To reach Himri , first reach Kullu then take a bus to Raison on Kullu Manali  road . Then from Raison take another bus to Ghat Karal . From Ghat Karal there is a walk about 3kms up to Himri  village .

Himri village is a small village in tehsil Nagar from this village reach Himri Pass situated at an altitude of  3200; metres above mean sea level .

Then from Himri Pass walk  down to Lug Valley 



The village Himri is about 16 Km North of Kullu district headquarters and 6km from Nagar .

The trail to Himri Pass is nice and  trekking teams used to visit in Summer and Autumn . You can have the view of Indrasan and Deo Tibba from the trek .

Pajaund Galu , " The mountain pass in district Mandi connecting Barot valley with Lug Valley in district Kullu Himachal Pradesh ."

Pajaund Galu :-  

 At about 75 Km from Mandi district headquarters and 45 Km from Padhar the Tehsil headquarters there is a small village Pajaund , near this village the Pajaund Galu pass exists which connects Barot valley in district Mandi with Lug Valley in district Kullu .

The Pajaund Galu is  a high mountain pass situated at an altitude of 3247 metres above mean sea level .

The Pajaund Galu pass connects the Barot valley in Mandi district with Lug Valley of district Kullu in Himachal Pradesh .

The trail form lug valley is traversed  along Lug Valley stream then comes Chhutla village  covering  villages  Baitha , Khani panch and Fanag hemlets   reach Pajanund galu .


From Pajaund on can enjoy the panoramic views of Kangna valley , Barot valley ,Himbri pass ,Bhubhu pass . The trek passes through beautiful forests , small lakes and meadows . The best time to trek along this route is from May to October .

From Pajaund Galu the trail descend down and enters the Barot valley . The Barot valley is a very beautiful valley . The road connectivity to Barot is from village Ghatasni  situated on Mandi Pathankot National Highway.

From Ghatasni  the Barot is situated at a distance of about 25 Km . Barot is famous for its natural beauty and environment . It is also famous for Trout fish farms .

Debsa Pass , "A mountain Pass connecting Kullu district with Spiti in Himachal Pradesh ."

 Debsa Pass connecting district Kullu with Spiti :-

The Debsa pass is a high altitude mountain pass  which exists between district Kullu and Spiti . It is a by pass trek to Pin - Parbati pass . 

The Debsa pass is situated at an altitude of 5360 metres above mean sea level .     

How we can reach :-  How the pass can be accessed ,the Debsa pass is accessible from both sides , either  from Kaza the head quarter of Spiti or from Manikaran from Kullu side .

From Kullu Side :-

The trek to Debsa pass is accessible from Kullu through Parbati Valley from Manikaran . The route is followed by river Parbati from this side 

The Parbati Valley is very beautiful , the nature here has beautiful spots having heart touching landscapes .

The Manikaran has hot water springs and lacs of people visit this valley every year .

The distance between Manikaran and Debsa pass is about 44.7 Kms   The trek starts from Manikaran and follow Kasol  ,Tosh . 

When coming from Chandigarh the route is Chandigarh Mandi Manali highway and bifurcates from Bhunter to Manikaran .

The trek starts from Manikaran .


From Kaza Side :- 

Kaza is the administrative headquarters of Spiti and falls in cold desert of Spiti  which is famous for its beautiful landscapes  .

From Kaza the distance of Debsa pass is about 43.8 Kms and one has to follow Debsa river in Spiti to reach this pass .

Mr. Joydeep Sirkar has discovered this pass with his team crossing over on 21 September 1995 .

 Sangam is the starting point to Debsa pass trek from Spiti side .

 



                    One Another View of Kaza 

To reach Kaza take road route from Shimla to Rampur the taking through Kinnaur enter Spiti valley at Khab .

The journey from Shimla to Kaza is about 420 Kms .

The shorter route to Kaza is from Manali following Solang valley Atal tunnel Gramphu , Batal Kunzum pass ,Losar Kaza route .

The Atal tunnel has reduced the distance  by about 20 kms and. the Manali Kaza is about 183 kms .


The Atal tunnel is 9.02 kms at an altitude of 3000 metres above mean sea level  and is a world class longest highway tunnel in the world .

Shinkula Pass, " The high mountain Pass between The border of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh."

 People often call it Shingo La , Though it's name is also Shinkula Pass. It is a high mountain Pass situated between the border of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh at an altitude of 5091 metres above mean sea level.

Just about 20 metres below there is a shallow lake. The Shinkula Pass  is connecting  Zanskar with Lahaul Valley. The Pass is an entry point  to Lugnak Valley in Zanskar range.

When we approach from side the nearest village is Chikka  and in Zanskar side the nearest village is Kurgiakh. The road from Darcha to Shinkula connects the valleys Lahaul and Zanskar. The distance from Darcha to Shinkula is about 36 Kms. 

The base camp site from Darcha side is Ramjak Or Chumik Nakpo and Lakong from Padum side.

  Padum is an administrative centre in Zanskar named after Padumshambhav the Bodh Guru.

Asha Gali Pass, "The high mountain Pass in Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal Pradesh."

 The Asha Gali pass is a high mountain pass in Lahul and Spiti situated at an altitude of about 4760 metres above mean sea level.

The Asha Gali pass is located near Dharunipar and Bangali Jot.  Dharunipar mountain is located in the east side of Asha Gali.  Asha Gali is located in South of Bangali Jot.  This pass connects Spiti valley with Kangra in Himachal Pradesh .

Nikora Pass, " The high mountain Pass between Kangra and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh."

 Nikora Pass :- Nikora pass is a high altitude pass between Kangra and Chamba districts in Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of about 4750 metres above mean sea level.

The Nikora pass lies in the Pir-Panjal mountain range it connects the Kugti village with Bara Bhanghal through a trek passing through forests, rivers and beautiful Meadows. The shepherds, trekkers and local people use this trek.

Laluni Jot, "The high mountain Pass in Himachal Pradesh in Lahaul-Spiti ".

 The Laluni Jot is a high mountain Pass situated in Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of 5440 metres above mean sea level. As we follow the range westwards from Rohtang la the series of peaks  appear in order friendship, Shitidhar and Ladakhi peaks.

When we further follow the range westwards we can view Manali peak, Mukar Beh and Sikhar Beh further offshoot of Gupt Parvat.

After Shikhar Beh the range further expands westwards to Laluni peak I, Laluni peak II , Laluni jot, Sankadenk jot and Kugti Pass all these lies between Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti.

Rupin Pass, " The high mountain Pass between Utrakhand and Himachal Pradesh in district Kinnaur."

 The Rupin Pass is a high mountain Pass situated at an altitude of about 4650 metres above mean sea level in district Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh. The trek lies on the treditional shepherd trek having beautiful landscapes, lush green meadows, forests and heart touching water falls.

The trek starts from Dhaula village in Utrakhand and ends at village Sangla in district Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh.

This Pass traverses through Rupin Valley in Utrakhand and Sangla valley in Himachal Pradesh. The shepherd use the trek for grazing their live stock. The trekking troups also use this trek is it is a very beautiful trek in India having huge beauty of nature around it. It takes about 7 days to complete this journey.
