Gilloy is an important herb, having numerous medicinal properties due to which it is called "Amrita ".
The other names of Gilloy are Geloy, Amrta, Gurcha, Guruch, Guduchi and Gulje. The scientific name of This plant is Tinospora Cordifolia.

It a creeper plant and takes its food from the tree on which it is supported and is called with the name of that plant. For an example if it is supported on Neem tree, it will be named Neem Gilloy.

The Gilloy contains alkaloids, carbohydrates, Flavonoids, Lignans, Steroids, Tinosporin, Choline, Palmetin, Isocolumbin, Ethanol, Aporphine, Mangoflorine, Tembetarine and Berberine which makes it a herb equivalent to "Amrit" the life saving drug.

we can use its fresh juice with certain additives like Black-pepper, Mishri etc. It can also be cut into half to one inch pieces and dried. The power of dried Gilloy is used as Kadaha with certain additives.
