How Shree Chamunda Appeared :-
As per Durgashaptshati in ancient times a battle was fought between Devas and demons , in this battle demons succeeded to get victory . Demons Shumbh and Nishumbh thus succeeded to establish their rule in heaven and earth . Demons started crime and torture against Devas and humans . On this all Devas went to Bhagwan Vishnu and prayed that Devas and humans are in trouble due to crime and torture by demons and requested for their defence .
On this Bhagwan Vishnu said , " Go and do aradhana of Bhagwati Devi Adishakti ." Then Devtas started the aradhana of Bhagwati Devi Adishakti in Himalayas but in prayer they don't chanted the name of Devi Bhagvati. During their aradhana Maa Parvati came to Mansarovar for bath and asked Devas that which Devi's aradhana is being done by you, then Devas could not tell the name of Devi .
On this Mata Parvati originated a beautiful girl from her body to kill the Demons Shumbh and Nishumbh . Being originated from Mata Parvati 's body that girl named Kaushiki .
