 Trekking in Goverta a beautiful Village in Tehsil Baldawara district Mandi Himachal Pradesh India :- 





On 13 th March we have an opportunity to visit village Goverta alongwith Mr Jivan Singh  Managing Director of Sanskar Valley School Nabrot Dhalwan, Mr. Pankaj Sharma ,Mrs. Nirmla Thakur  , Shivani Sharma , Mrs. Nisha  teachers of the school in connection with getting the people to know the education programs of Sanskar Valley School Nabrot Dhalwan.



The village Goverta is a very beautiful village about 6 Km from Patrighat and about 2. 5 km down hill from Shri Naina Devi ji Temple  in the middle of Chir forest and panoramic landscapes of Shivalik hills. The village has a pucca road connectivity .

In previous years the Goverta village was in snow range but now due temperature changes  globally this village rarely experience snow fall .


The Goverta village is surrounded by other villages  like Dhanehr , Sarkidhar , Patrighat ,Kalkhar , Amblagalu , Gummu , Hadsar Gullela  and Jawali . The area of the village is 58.44 hectares and houses in this village are 70  in numbers .


We met many men and women of the village  . The are of very nice nature  . The major source of income is agriculture , animal Husbandry and services in private and public sector.

The scenic beauty of the village is splendid one and attractive to the nature lovers who also visit Seven Sars ( water bodies ) related to Pandvas and Shri Naina Devi ji Temple .

Kalpa is a beautiful town at a distance of about 12 Km from Recong Peo at an altitude of about 2759 metres above mean sea level .

The Vineyards , apple Orchards , Chilgoza pine , Cidar and Deodar forests imparts immense to beauty  of the town .

Kalpa earlier was named Chini which offers an amazing and panoramic views of majestic Kinner kailash mountain in district Kinnaur .

Kalpa came into prominence when Lord Dalhousie made a proposal to construct Hindustan Tiebet Road in 19 th century .

You can visit Narayan , Nagini temple and Buddhist Monasteries here .

On the way from Powari to Kalpa  about 7 Km from Powari we reach at Recong Peo which is district headquarters of district Kinnaur about 260 Km from State capital Shimla .

Recong Peo is situated at an altitude of 2290 metres above mean sea level admist panoramic landscapes of Himalayas .


Ancient Gompa called - Hu-Bu -Lan - Kar is established here by Rinchensang Po during 950  -1055 . The new Gompa commemorating the vanue of Kalachakra initiation conducted by Bodh Dharam Guru Dalai Lama during 1992.

The majestic peak of Kinner kailash is held very sacred by the Hindus as they consider kinner  kailash as one of the abodes of Lord Shiva.

A high rock formations like Shiva lingam  about 79 feet high seen by the side of the mountain  is Kinner kailash the one of the abodes of Lord Shiva in district Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh .

Devotees of Lord Shiva undertake the prikrama around the peak . 


The parikrama starts from Moorang and ends at Karchham , Kalpa . The complete parikrama takes 7- 8 days . The altitude of Kinner kailash is about 6050 metres above mean sea level . It is accessible from Charang La pass which is situated at an altitude of 5300 metres above mean sea level .

The parikrama trek is almost clear from may to September . The parikrama is doable in June to August . The parikrama is considered as holy one dedicated to Lord Shiva .

Moorang  :- 


A beautiful and charming hemant named Moorang  situated on the left bank of river Satluj at a distance of about 39 km from Kalpa is famous for apricot orchards .




Moorang is headquarters of Moorang Tehsil in district Kinnaur . The historical monument a fort of Pandas you can visit in Moorang . The historical  fort is now not in good condition .

The International women's day this year in 2023 has come with the theme  " DigitALL : Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality ."

8 th. March is celebrated as an International women's day every year  , the aim of celebrating this day is to create awareness among the society globally  about women's importance in the society .




Oshin  Sharma (HAS ) Block Development Officer Naggar district Kullu Himachal Pradesh on this day says that every day is women 's day   , man and woman are two wheels of life and the life spins  effectively if both wheels are equal .

She further says that "after every successful man there is a women and after a successful women there is always a progressive man  ."  What a beautiful thought it is ?

So importance of theme "DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality " must be given priority to upgrade the position of women's in the society globally . The universe can't sustain without the presence of women . So today every one must take oath to give high position to women in the family and society . 




Take a oath to prove best care to both girls and boys in their health , education  and job opportunities,   only then we can think of a better society .

Nichar  A Beautiful place :--



Usha Mata temple Nichar 

Nichar is a very beautiful village in district Kinnaur located at an altitude of about 2100 metres above mean sea level about 13 Km from Bhaba Nagar on the left bank of river Satluj in the Satluj valley between Tranda Dhankh and Wangtu  .


The scenic beauty of Nichar is due to the alpine lush green forests and  orchards  that's why it is called green valley. The Usha Mata temple is famous for its carvings . It has a famous water body called, '' Chhalang bayu ."

Nichar region is rich in flora and fauna hence the forests of  Nichar offer opportunity to see  ghoral , antelopes  , black and red bears  . Nichar region has a moderate climate throughout the year , therefore it remains charming to the visitors at any time . It is situated on old Hindustan Tiebet road .

The Economy of District Kinnaur is mainly based on Agriculture, horticulture, Tourism and Hydropower projects .  The total geographical area of the district is 6401 square Kilometres . The total cropped area is 11092 hectares and the area under forest is 645.31 square Kilometres  . The per capita income in the district is Rs  217993/- .


Agriculture  :-





Agriculture is a main contribution towards the economy of district Kinnaur. The major crops in the district are :- 


Wheat ,  Maize,barley ,beans , potatoes peas and Pulses are the major crops in the district . Turnips  cabbage , Potatoes ,Peas ,Radish ,Capsicum and chillies are grown in some areas . The irrigation coverage is 5474 hectares of land .


Medicinal  and Aromatic Crops  :-


The major medicinal and Aromatic Crops are Kala Zeera , Kuth ,  Hing ,Chilgoza  , Saffron [ Keshar  ] . These medicinal and Aromatic Crops also contribute towards the economy of the district .

Trout fish farming is functioning in Sangla Valley in Kinnaur to promote trout fish farming in Kinnaur  to  raise the economy of the district .
