The district Chamba of Himachal Pradesh is famous for its natural beauty and it's beautiful lakes situated in the lap of Dhauladhar range of Himalayas has great importance religious and tourism point view.
The Chamera lake is an artificial, man -made lake formed due to construction of Chamera hydro-electric power project on river Ravi.
Lakes promoting water sports
The Chamera hydro-electric power project constructed on river Ravi is generating 1071 MW electricity in three stages and is at distance of 25 km from beautiful hill resort Dalhousie in district Chamba. The project is having view from Chamba Pathankot highway. The road going to dam site is traversing along the lake to Bhalie temple and Bhandal Valley.

The coordinates of dam is between 32° 35' 50" North and 75° 59' 09 " East. The major part of the lake exists in Salooni sub -division of Chamba. The dam height is 226 metres and length is 295 metres.
Water sports the unique features of Lake
The day and night varying temperature of the area is an unique feature . During day time the temperature near the dam reaches up to 35 ° and during night it comes down to 18 ° cel. Maximum water level in the lake is, 763 metres that of minimum is 747 metres. The lake is also have boating point.

In the absence of aquatic life, the lake is an ideal spot for water sports the Himachal Pradesh Department of Tourism , there is huge scope of water sports like Motor boating, Paddle boating, rowing, sailing , angling etc.
House Boating and Shikaras are also there for enjoying the lake. The place is having very beautiful atmosphere and tourists enjoy this emmense beauty of nature.
