CHAMERA LAKE " The beautiful & Unique spot for water sports in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh."

 The district Chamba of Himachal Pradesh is famous for its natural beauty and it's beautiful lakes situated in the lap of Dhauladhar range of Himalayas has great importance religious and tourism point view. 

The Chamera lake is an artificial, man -made lake formed due to construction of Chamera hydro-electric power project on river Ravi.

The Chamera hydro-electric power project constructed on river Ravi is generating 1071 MW electricity in three stages and is at distance of 25 km  from beautiful hill resort Dalhousie in district Chamba. The project is having view from Chamba Pathankot highway. The road going to dam site is traversing along the lake to Bhalie temple and Bhandal Valley.

The coordinates of dam is between 32° 35' 50" North and 75° 59' 09 " East. The major part of the lake exists in Salooni sub -division of Chamba. The dam height is 226 metres and length is 295 metres. 

         Water sports the unique features of Lake

The  day and night varying temperature of the area is an unique feature . During day time the temperature near the dam reaches up to 35 ° and  during night it comes down to 18 ° cel. Maximum  water level in the lake is, 763 metres that of minimum is 747 metres. The lake is also have boating point.

In the absence of aquatic life, the lake is an ideal spot for water sports the Himachal Pradesh Department of Tourism  , there is huge scope of water sports like Motor boating, Paddle boating, rowing, sailing  , angling  etc. 

House Boating and Shikaras are also there for enjoying the lake. The place is having very beautiful atmosphere and tourists enjoy this emmense beauty of nature.

 Observe a little child just after mother feeding, we can see a very cute smile on his face, this is what  ? this is "supreme happiness."

On the other hand when the baby is hungry, we can't see the same smile on his face. So satisfaction is the state, when we observe the"supreme happiness. "

In our body there is a system which produces tiny neurochemicals called endorphins, which are responsible to relieve stress, pain and feel satisfaction resulting happiness. 

When we see any beautiful scene of Nature we feel happiness because endorphins are released. 

When we do Yoga and Physical exercise, endorphins are released in our body which results to release the stress and achieve the state of satisfaction, hence the happiness.

Lama Dal Lake " Amazing Landscapes in Quite Environment of Dhauladhar Hills, district Chamba Himachal Pradesh "

When you want to relax from stressful life and enjoy , go to the lake in the mountains. The beauty of Dhauladhar and it's lakes are awesome to enjoy the nature.

On the beautiful inner slopes Dhauladhar hills, there is a group of seven lakes, the largest one is "Lama Dal Lake ". Lama Dal Lake is situated at a distance of 45 km from Chamba.

Some poet has drawn very beautiful picture of Himachal Pradesh " Eternal snows, lush green forests, singing streams, dancing birds, lovely lakes, verdant values, emerald meadows, smiling glaciers and gay girls :- this is the picture of Himachal Pradesh which sprawls in the North Western lap of the Himalayas. "  What a mesmerizing picture of Himachal Pradesh.

The Lama Dal Lake is situated at an altitude of 3962 metres from mean sea level and at a distance of 20 km from Dainkund. The lake has covered about 2 km of surface area. The lake is said a scared one is depth is still unknown. The Lama Dal Lake is largest of all natural lakes surrounded by perennial glaciers. It is  a high altitude lake.

This lake is sacred to Lord Shiva and a pilgrimage is held every year during the month of July & August. The local people visit this place on Janmashtami and people of Kangra visit on Radhaashtmi.

The lake is accessible from Chambla as well as Dharmshala but from chamba side it is somewhat easy and from Dharmshala side route is steep and somewhat difficult. From Chamba side there is road up to Dharwala and bus service is there. From Dharwala taxi service is available up to Vari village and from where trekking starts. From Dharmshala side the lake  we can  reach via Gaj Pass. 

The Lama Dal is very beautiful place in the lap of mountains.

Pandoh Lake " Man -Made Artificial Lake, which mirror the immense beauty of Himachal Pradesh "

 The another mile stone, achievement of Engineers in the field of power generation and Irrigation is Pandoh Dam completed during 1977 known as Beas -Satluj Link Project at Pandoh, district Mandi, Himachal Pradesh by Government of India.

Pandoh Lake is created by constructing an earthen  embankment dam on river Beas also named Bipasa ,height of dam is 76 metres (249 feet) and length 255 metres (837 feet) . The spillway of the dam is of Reinforced Cement Concrete for flow of water.

The dam is situated at a distance of 19 km from Mandi at upstream of Pandoh village on Chandigarh-Mandi -Manali National highway No 21. A beautiful lake is formed as result of dam which has covered an area of 1.70 square kilometres with a reservoir capacity of 41000000 cubic metres of water.

The waters of river Beas ,3.82 Million acre feet is diverted from Pandoh to river Satluj basin at Slappar for hydro-electric power generation in the Dehar Power House. The installed capacity of Dehar power  house is 990 MW. The potential head of water at Slappar is 320 metres (1050 feet).

The Beas water is carried through a 25 feet dia. and 13.1km long Pandoh Baggi tunnel, then 11.8 km Baggi Sundernagar Hydel Channel  then again 12.35 km long & 28 feet dia Sundernagar -Satluj tunnel with underground differential type 75 feet dia. and 410 feet high Reinforced Cement concrete surge shaft at Dehar Power House and finally falls in Satluj river.

The Nature's Beautiful gift "Rewalsar Lake in the lap of lower Himalayas, district Mandi, Himachal Pradesh "

 Himachal Pradesh, the beautiful state of India has its immense beauty in its snow covered mountains, vast meandering green valleys, green thick forests, crystal clear flowing water rivers and lakes. Today I am going to share very beautiful , historic lake  "The Rewalsar Leke " also called "Tso Pema "

                          

                     Strengthen The girl Child 

The Rewalsar a small beautiful town of Himachal Pradesh is sacred place for Hindu, Buddha and Sikh religions. This town is situated at a distance of 25 km from Mandi district head quarters ,61 km from Hamirpur  and 21 km from Jahu on Mandi Rewalsar Bhambla Una road. When coming from Una, the route is Una Nerchowk road and bifurcates from Kalkhar, from where Rewalsar is only 5 km. 

The Rewalsar lake is situated at an altitude of 1360 metres from mean sea level in the beautiful hills of lower Himalayas. The circumference of the lake is about 750 metres, and is a mid altitude lake.

The history of Lake as per "The Puranas " is that the great Boddh religious Guru Padmasambhav  , also called Rinpoche  ,who is known for establishing Monastery in Tibet and introducing  Buddhism in Tibet also came to this place. 

Princess Mandarva , the daughter of king Arshdhara, the king of Mandi state was very much impressed with teachings of Religious guru Padmasambhav and started taking teachings from Padmasambhav. She was a dedicated pupil of Padmasambhav.With the passage of time Princess Mandarva and Padmasambhav were getting spiritually connected. A cowhered who saw all that spread the news that Princess is flirting with Charlatan. When the king came to know about this, he ordered that Padmasambhav be put on fire. At those times  the Buddhism was seen with doubtful eyes. A large pyre of wood was arranged and Padmasambhav was put on fire in that pyre. The pyre remained burning for seven days. After seven days the ashes turned into a lake and Padmasambhav appeared on the Lotus also called lotus born. When the king Arshdhara came to know, he realised his mistake and then married his daughter Princess Mandarva with Padmasambhav. 

Thus this holy lake came into existence. Boddh religious temple also exist at Rewalsar.

It is also believed that the Maharishi Lomas had held his penance in the devotion to Lord Shiva at this place. Then in reward Lord Shiva gave the Maharishi Lomas the seven floating islands, which always move in the lake and a veritable feast to the eyes. Lomas Maharishi temple also exist here along with other Hindu temples. 

The tenth Sikh Guru  "Guru Govind Singh " had also spent some time at this place, so a "Gurdawara " is also built at this place. So Rewalsar is a sacred place for Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhist. Shisu fair is celebrated here in the month of February, and Vaishakhi fair is also held on 13 April every year at this place, pilgrims from different parts of country and abroad used to visit.

It is believed that the lake water is flowing under ground from Rewalsar to Nagchala, the place situated 10 kn from Mandi on Chandigarh- Mandi -Manali National Highway. This belief was strengthened  , that once a fish was tagged with golden ring in the nose and the same fish with golden ring was seen at Nagchala water resource. The lake is also associated with Nag cult. Thus people have deep  religious connection with this place. 

Just adjoining to the lake, there is a small zoo located up hill of the ground, ahead of entrance. Visitors also  used to visit Zoo. 

The place is very beautiful and place full, there is a famous Nainadevi temple at a distance of 10 km on top of the hill, just ahead of seven sar. On must visit this place.
