The Balh valley is known as Suket valley or Sundernagar valley, it is an open dun type valley situated on both sides of Suketi river. The valley is very fertile having loam soil texture, the colour of the soil varies from light grey to brown.

The valley is very beautiful and some portion of the valley on both sides of Suketi river is plain like Punjab, that's why it is also called Mini Punjab.

This valley extends from Gutker to Sundernagar from North to South. In the East Baggi is a prominent human settlement and Gumma is situated in its West.

The valley is rich in production of wheat, Maise, sugarcane, paddy, ginger and seasonal vegetables. The famous towns in the valley are Sundernagar, Dhanotu, Jaidevi, Caned, Baggi, Ratti, Nerchowk and Mandi. During 1962 Indo- German agriculture Project was started by Government to promote mixed farming, dairy and animal husbandry in the valley.
